You know how there are certain events you look forward to all year long?  For me, the obvious ones are the entire holiday season from Thanksgiving to New Years, College Football Bowl Games, NCAA Final Four, The Masters Golf Tournament, summer family vacations, the fall sale season, the World Series and many more.  However, one that I have really grown to appreciate more each year is the Ft. Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, and especially the opening week that celebrates our Western Heritage and the cowboys and cowgirls who work everyday to keep that tradition alive.

Frankly, I’m envious of some of those great hands who have built the architecture of their lives around the privilege of saddling a horse everyday and ridin’ herd across the vast expanse of ranch land that makes up so much of west Texas, Oklahoma & New Mexico.

Thankfully, many of those steady, “salt of the earth” cowboys and cowgirls converge once a year on Cowtown during the Ft. Worth Stock Show & Rodeo to demonstrate, exhibit, compete, parade and auction off the very livestock that ties them so closely to the land they love.

If you’re an urban dweller who longs for a taste of that western ranching lifestyle, then there’s no better place to be this weekend than the Will Rogers Memorial Center – the home of the Ft. Worth Stock Show & Rodeo
